Does anyone have a car that might be interested in carpooling down to SuperHappyDevHouse 16 this Saturday evening?
Inspired by: this, I dig into my boundless spam box and picked one at random.
A great way to learn about a variety of liquor at once and share opinions with others!
YOU SHOULD BUILD A BAYIS NEEMAN BYISRAEL. Much happiness from her and the other two cuties!
You are so blessed to have each other. We’ll be there in two days wait for us to start the parties! Diary of a Mad Black Woman and Madea’s Family Reunion both had similar multipliers, so we’ll use the same one for Daddy’s Little Girls, bumped up slightly with a dash Monday thrown into the mix.
Hope to speak to you soon!
I still can’t believe it! It was amazing holding my first ankle as shown in this picture.

Ok, so I added my own photo…
BART announcements in SF and east bay stations that I’ve been to use a male voice for one platform and a female one for the other. The synthesis isn’t that bad either. I suspect it may even be chained pre-recordings.
Here in San Bruno, there’s one really bad automated male voice for everything. It sounds a lot like festival.. only worse.
That even regular Muni riders seem to be surprised when the train stops even further forward on the incredibly oversized platforms than they remember it.
I’ve asked a good number of fellow riders about it, and most say it catches them off guard every time.
When the train pulls in, a wave of accelerating people push forward from their sweepingly long formation of toe-tapping. It’s most exciting when one can clearly observe group velocity in effect from above.
Nice weather just makes for pleasant days. Especially on the heels of crumby weather.
Today I went down to Pacifica with my mum and had a lovely brunch at The Moss Beach Distillery. The view was great, and the weather was super cooperative as well.
The strangest part about going down was this Taco Bell in the middle of a state beach in Pacifica. It was just so out of place, but hey, occasionally it’s time for Taco Bell … at the beach.
Came back to the city and went up to Chinatown for a nice dinner with my grandparents. On the way up, I picked up my new and festive March Muni pass and took the cable car for the first time in recent memory. It’s pretty fun hanging off the side of the car and leaning out a bit while making our way up Powell.
We ate at an interesting hole in wall place called Hunan Homes on Jackson. Worth a repeat visit.
My uncle posed the question to my psychoanalyst grandmother what it means when you have dreams about a man with a tumor on his face.
I wondered to myself what’s significant about my recurrent dreams about checkers, chess, Python, and trying to hold society together after finding a way to reliably solve NP complete problems (Actually, I dreamed that I was able to factor arbitrarily large composites in poly time, and somehow it leaked online). Yeah, I’m just nerdy like that.
On my way back down on the cable car, I got to talking with a nice couple visiting town from Massachusetts for Wondercon.
He thought my Kilowatt shirt was a very obscure graphic novel reference. I had no idea what he was talking about.
They were interested in a good Indian place some where in Noma, so I did a little Google Maps Mobile dance and got them on their way to Shalimar.
It felt good to find friendly tourists though. I’m starting to think I should start taking the cable car on weekends for no other reason than to just meet tourists and help them find things.
Haven’t put anything here in a bit, so I thought I felt like writing something.
I’m looking for a job. I’m hoping to find a place that could make good use of a *nix system admin with a bit of an emphasis on netops. I’m looking to start right away, and heck something a little bit different might be nice too, i.e. I’m feeling flexible and up for anything at the moment. Any ideas or suggestions? Send ‘em along.
The weather has been totally off and on in my neighborhood. One minute it’s hailing, and it’s dry the next. Every time I think I don’t need to bring my brollie, I’m invariably stuck a few blocks away without one. Anxiously awaiting spring.
Earthquakes! Felt a modest one this evening. The house swayed a little and the cat slept right through it. Nothing damaged. Growing up in California, it seems like such a minor occurance, but of course I got no less than three “Earthquake!” Twitter updates :). I took the opportunity to check on the battery backups and attach some heavy stuff on shelves a little better. It’s probably about time to switch away from these beefy-ass CRT’s, huh?
New folks in town. It seems like there’s always so many new and interesting people moving to SF all the time. I’m jazzed to be living just two blocks away from Jake. It seems like he knows everyone, and has been just about everywhere. Since I don’t really get to see him all that often, I end up seeing what he’s up to through his awesome photos, which just make his life seem that much more fantastic.
And Erinn Clark, holy cow. So far, I’ve only been able to run into her randomly a few times. Check this out though. Anyone who can pull off jewelry about software gets instant hotness cred in my book. Too bad she only seems to return emails in person :p
I really don’t have much of an aversion to meat, but I just saw this photo on the Make: blog that made me cringe.
Those meat shavings are just friggin nasty. Eew, eew, eew.
… has pretty much gone to crap.
I think the low point was riding my bike back to work this evening when it started raining. Hard. And then the hail came. And of course it was sunny out when I left, so I wore only a nylon jacket and jeans.
I know San Francisco’s an inclement place, but hail?!
I suppose last weekend was just so good, this week’s pale in comparison.
On a completely different note, I got an idea for a site a few days ago and set something up quickly. It’s called hackcessory and lives at http://hackcessory.com There’s not much there yet, but I was hoping to have a place to share and review neat hackerish tools, computers, and stuff. Be sure to send along suggestions of things to check out.
I just noticed that Google added some building detail, BART stations, and Muni Metro stations to their vector maps tiles. Right now, it only seems like it’s in parts of downtown, all the way up to North Beach east of Gough Street, Soma, The Mission, and parts of Potrero Hill.
It’s neat to see that it includes my flat and even our cottage out back.
