I had a lovely evening playing Texas hold ‘em poker with Nick Douglas, Christian Perry, Daniel Burka, Leah Culver, and Buzz Andersen tonight. We played for a small pot with some chocolate coins for chips. I think we ate more chips than through money though…

There is certainly something to be said both for and against drinking before a poker game. On the one hand, it really makes players a little bit more confident and spendy. But on the other hand, this game just dragged on and on. We’ll have to make a weekly habit of it and get better at playing.
We started with Vespers by Buzz and moved on to a variation on a Negroni put together by Buzz. It’s most basically a Negroni, but with Lillet instead of vermouth. Despite Buzz’s ardent desire to the contrary, it’s begun to take on the name “The Arrington” somewhat. Perhaps we’ll have to put it up here.
Leah made a great game conductor, which made it really conducive to not getting distracted and moving the game along.

Eventually, the evening devolved into surfing HOTorNOT and talking about emails from strange people.
